The Maple top-whorl drop spindle is very well balanced and spins very nice yarn. Weighing in at 1.8oz/51g it is a great beginner tool, easily making a variety of yarn thicknesses and can be used for spinning singles as well as plying. The smooth slit at the side of the whorl ensures your thread will not slip - the metal hook at the top maybe adjusted to accommodate your preferred angle of tension (3/9 o'clock or noon/6 o'clock).
